Ailin Montserrat Pérez, the woman arrested for driving under the influence and causing damage by invading the exclusive lane of the Metrobús in Mexico City, regained her freedom just three days after the incident that caused outrage. Journalist Carlos Jiménez was the one who reported her release, showing images of her leaving prison. Montserrat Pérez, identified as a trainer and fitness competitor, was arrested barefoot, disoriented, and with alcohol on her breath, contrasting with the previous image held of her.
The accident occurred around 3:00 AM on Friday, May 3, when Ailin Pérez lost control of her blue Ford Mustang and ended up invading the restricted lane of the Metrobús on Balderas Avenue and Article 123, in the Centro neighborhood of CDMX. Her vehicle was mounted on the concrete curb, obstructing public transport. Eyewitnesses reported that the woman could not speak properly and showed clear signs of intoxication.
The Attorney General's Office of CDMX sent Ailin Montserrat Pérez to prison for damages caused, while agents from the Citizens' Security Secretariat were responsible for detaining her at the scene of the accident and bringing her before the Public Prosecutor's Office. After reaching a reparatory agreement with the authorities, she was released on the night of Monday, May 5. Personnel from the Undersecretary of Traffic Control arrived with a tow truck to remove the young woman's vehicle.
